FACT SHEET
The Mission Statement:
The mission of this organization is to provide assistance
for individuals and families who are emerging from hurting situations by providing
for basic needs and by creating environments which allow people to make hopeful
life changes.
SOCIAL SERVICE MINISTRIES
• Emergency Services consist of providing food, clothing, limited financial
assistance, referrals, short term counseling, service brokering to
families/individuals living in Lexington and Saluda County and certain
zip codes of Calhoun County who struggle to meet their basic needs.
• Outreach Centers provide emergency services for basic needs to families and
individuals in their local communities. The LICS Outreach Center is
located in Swansea serving the Swansea, Gaston Communities of Lexington County.
• Food For Living (FFL)-The mission of this program is to provide monthly
food assistance to the disabled and aged population who are living under
the USDA Income Standards and struggling to meet their basic needs.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
The mission of Special or Missionary Projects is to provide opportunities for a
volunteer or group of volunteers to participate in a mission/outreach project that
enhances the daily operations and services of LICS. Therefore, LICS has a supply
of a variety of resources for individuals and families requesting services. Examples
are Personal Care Bags, Goodie Boxes, Holiday Food Drives, volunteering after hours
for an on campus project.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES
Our volunteers are the very heart and soul of the LICS ministry. Approximately
350 volunteers work in our ministry on any given month. We always need more volunteers
and welcome volunteers to call to schedule an orientation session. Volunteers work in
all aspects of the main center and all outreach centers. Volunteers are necessary for
leadership roles of board Members, church liaisons, and committee members. In almost
all situations, LICS accommodates the volunteers schedule and wishes for times and dates
of volunteerism. In the Ministry area, we have a variety of volunteer positions. They
include clerical work, interviewing people seeking assistance, and packing and sorting
food, and general office work. Volunteers in the Thrift Shop receive donations and
prepare them for the shop. Volunteers greet and help customers, are cashiers, and
provide any needed assistance to customers.
CHURCH AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
The church community is the foundation that feeds LICS with contributions of all types.
Examples of contributions are as follows:
Volunteers Financial Contributions Food contributions
